Audio By Design

Polishing perfection since the dawn of digital...

Welcome to KOUDERAY.  Providing a wide array of creative services while catering to the specific needs of emerging songwriters, filmmakers, bands, and multimedia creatives has been our only goal since day one.

With extensive music production and sound design experience, we work with independent artists and corporate clients to deliver the same quality and dedication you'd expect downtown from our hilltop ranch a few miles northeast of Woodstock, Illinois - centrally located between Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago.

Mixing, editing, designing, and remixing is our bread and butter. We've turned our place into a creative kitchen where artists can flesh out ideas and arrangements while enjoying all the comforts of home.

Kouderay is an affordable solution for capturing your muse and a comprehensive audio destination to complete your next opus.

England’s purveyors of "schrammel-pop" were back here Halloween '19 and mixed their excellent, eleven-song debut album, which is scheduled to be released in 2020 by KUS (EU) and Shelflife (USA) on 180-gram vinyl.  And after we finished mixing two songs this past summer,  I Close My Eyes (b/w It'll Take More Than A Friday) has just been released as a limited-edition 7” single on KUS. Watch their new video posted here just in time for JP's early December UK tour with The Wedding Present.

Their critically acclaimed EP,  Self-Destruct Reality, featuring the single that was mixed and edited at Kouderay, is still available along with  demos, covers, and organic t-shirts, direct from their store at Bandcamp or you can listen to them on Spotify (click the header).

Remixer/composer or maybe your multi-instrumental, ex-bandmate, C54 has been remixing the remains of the day since joining forces with a wide array of singer-songwriters, bands, and multimedia types.

This is the first composition ever recorded at Kouderay - a dark ambient, atmospheric improvisation tracked during soundcheck before a Lilypad Records' session was about to load in.

In 1987, The Wildroots were enjoying a streak of good fortune as one of Chicago's up & comers.  Recorded at the Rivera Theater in Chicago by the legendary Timothy Powell and his MetroMobile location recording truck & crew, they performed on a bill for 93'XRT FM at their annual Christmas For The Kids benefit concert, hosted by Radio Hall of Famer, DJ Terri Hemmert.

Singer-songwriter, Garret Johnson, hails from Morris, Illinois 60 miles southwest of Chicago. He arrived at Kouderay in the late winter of 2017 and sporadically reappears to create music in our kitchen. These two songs comprise what has been affectionately referred to as The Shakey Toothpick Sessions.
